Ignorance, Blind Imitation, and Preoccupation with Useless Things - Sheikh Abd al-Aziz bin Baz

قال الشيخ عبد العزيز بن باز رحمه الله:

"لا شك أن الأسباب التي ذكرها هي أسباب، وقد بدأها بالجهل، والجهل لا شك أنه داء عضال، فجهل المسلمين بما يجب عليهم وجهلهم بمكائد أعدائهم لا شك أن ذلك أوقعهم في الكثير مما سبب تسلط الأعداء، فإن الجهل كل يعرف شره في أمور الدين والدنيا جميعًا، فالجهل سبب من الأسباب، وهكذا التقليد الأعمى للأكابر والمشايخ والأصدقاء والمعظمين لدى الشخص، وهكذا الجدل الاشتغال بالجدل والأشياء العقيمة التي لا تنفع عما يجب وعما ينبغي أن يشتغل به وأن يؤخذ به، وكذلك ما وقع من المسلمين يعني من أكثرهم من المعاصي لا تزال بحمد الله طائفة من الأمة على الحق ظاهرة، فهكذا بشر النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم وبين أنه لا تزال طائفة من هذه الأمة على الحق ظاهرة مستقيمة منصورة لا يضرها من خذلها ولا من خالفها حتى يأتي أمر الله. نسأل الله أن يجعلنا وإياكم منهم، ولكن البلاء ظاهر، والشر ظاهر أيضًا بسبب هذه الأسباب التي ذكرها الشيخ سعود وبأسباب أخرى."

Sheikh Abd al-Aziz ibn Abdullah bin Baz (may Allah have mercy upon him) said: "There is no doubt that the reasons he mentioned are indeed valid. He began with ignorance, which is undoubtedly a severe affliction. The ignorance of Muslims about their obligations and the schemes of their enemies has undoubtedly led them into many situations that have caused the enemies to dominate. Ignorance, as is well known, is harmful in both religious and worldly matters. Thus, ignorance is one of the causes. Similarly, blind imitation of elders, scholars, friends, and those esteemed by the individual is also a cause. Likewise, engaging in futile arguments and discussions that do not benefit, instead of focusing on what is necessary and should be attended to, is another cause.

Furthermore, these problems are exacerbated by the transgressions of many Muslims. But by Allah's grace, some members of the Ummah are still on the truth, just as the Prophet (peace be upon him) predicted. He clarified that until Allah gives the order, there will always be a portion of this Ummah that is manifest upon the truth, unwavering and supported, and unaffected by others who abandon or oppose them. We pray that Allah would include you and us among them. Despite this, the tribulations and evil are manifest for the reasons Shaykh Saud listed as well as for other ones."
